Eli Lilly and Company Area Master Planning
Indianapolis, Indiana
Eli Lilly and Company Global Facilities Delivery retained Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects' landscape architecture and planning services to design an exterior security function and aesthetic for three campuses totaling over 500 acres. BDMD Architects created a master-planned framework for pedestrian and vehicular circulation (including delivery and emergency routes), which can be built upon sequentially in the future. Scope items included roadway and parking planning to accommodate more than 3,000 employees, signage, landscape and irrigation, exterior garden design in the dining areas, a water feature and site furniture. Key to the site's design was the creation of primary security walls and fencing and secondary landscape barriers, as this facility produces most of the world's synthetic human insulin. Construction estimates and alternative maintenance considerations to reduce operating budgets are ongoing services that BDMD provides for Eli Lilly and Company.
