Dan Overbey, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD+C of BDMD Architects, will be a presenter at the ASES National Solar Conference Workshop on Saturday, May 22. The Passive Solar Heating Workshop provides attendees with the fundamental science and the practical knowledge necessary to successfully design buildings that incorporate any of the passive solar systems available today.
On April 21, 2010, Knauf Insulation North America’s new Engineering Building designed by Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects was awarded the LEED Gold Certification by the USGBC. The Knauf building is one of just a handful of buildings in Indiana to earn LEED Gold Certification. Of all approximately 19 LEED Gold buildings in the state of Indiana, 2 were designed by BDMD Architects.
Today, Mayor Greg Ballard and the Office of Sustainability announced the award winners for the first-ever Indianapolis Sustainability Awards. Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf's College of Pharmacy and Health Science (COPHS) Expansion at Butler University was among the five winning projects, narrowed down from nearly 70 applicants.
As stated by SustainIndy, the Indianapolis Sustainability Awards are "designed to inspire innovation, showcase impact, reward leadership and promote education around the principles of sustainability." Five awards (handcrafted by a student at the Herron School of Art and Design) were given to honor excellence in each of the following categories: Air, Land, Water, Energy, and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. BDMD is proud to announce that Jonathan Young has passed his Architect Registration Exam and is now a Registered Architect. Jonathon joined BDMD in 2008. He has a Master's Degree in Architecture with a focus on Historic Preservation.
Barth Hendrickson, Director of Landscape Architecture, recently joined the Clinton County Chamber of Commerce. "This is springtime for Clinton County and I believe that a carefully crafted vision can shed light on a den of sleeping bears. As a citizen of Clinton County I am part of that vision; I joined the chamber to have my voice heard and hopefully add value that impacts people's lives in a real and tangible way.", said Barth.
Dan Overbey, LEED AP was elected to the USGBC Indiana Board of Directors. Dan will bring his enthusiasm for Sustainability to the Board and have a great impact on the Indiana Chapter of the USGBC where he also is the Communications Chair.
The Fayetteville, Arkansas Chamber of Commerce awarded the "Grand Slam" award to the University of Arkansas for their new Softball Stadium, Bogle Park, designed by Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects. The facility won the award for the "quality of design and impact on the intended audience, both athlete and fan."
