St. Vincent Oncology Center
Indianapolis, Indiana

The St. Vincent Oncology Center is designed to foster a special approach to the care of patients facing a great personal challenge. Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf Architects and the owner cooperatively developed a mission to create a compassionate environment within which the hospital's spirit of caring could be realized. A warm palette of natural materials and vegetation follows a gently curving drive, welcoming the first-time visitor to the center in an understated manner. The center incorporates the latest medical equipment including two linear accelerators, CT simulation, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine and mammography. The success of the design lies in the owner's appreciation of its impact on the patient's experience. The resulting environment sets St. Vincent apart from competing oncology programs and ultimately benefits the patients, family and staff. The site has been master planned for future expansion including the addition of a 20,000-square-foot women's clinic.
