This project will double the existing size of players’ spaces to accommodate a combined male and female tournament including locker rooms, players’ lounge, players’ dining, fitness rooms and training rooms. Other amenities will include new suites, a press box, interview rooms, upper deck seating, a new players’ entry and a landscape design to connect the new and existing components together. The building’s design was driven by combining the optimal materials from the existing stadium to create an integrated yet innovative expression. A canopy will provide shading for the upper deck seating and will be the first canopy at the complex that will not have columns interrupting any site lines. The western exterior wall extends past the building shell and wraps the neighboring exterior stair towers. This creates a dynamic between spectator circulation and the architecture itself. The construction of this project will be completed between the annual tournaments, less than 11 months.
