Historic Preservation and Adaptive Reuse

Historic Preservation and Adaptive Reuse have been an area of specialization for Browning Day for several decades. With their vast array of type, style, size, and age, historic buildings give texture and variety to the built environment. Browning Day recognizes the value of retaining these resources and strives to help clients realize their vision for their historic buildings. This takes many forms and encompasses a wide range of solutions including the restoration, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse of significant historic buildings, as well as the renovation and imaginative re-purposing of non-historic buildings.

Browning Day begins every historic preservation and adaptive reuse project by identifying the character-defining features of the building. We then develop a design that is respectful of these features while integrating new programmatic and system requirements. Our significant body of work spans more than 30 years and encompasses ground-breaking and award-winning projects throughout the Midwest.

Browning Day is a proud member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Indiana Landmarks, and the Association for Preservation Technology.
