BDMD has been significantly involved in the master planning of Taylor University’s campus in Upland, Indiana since August 2007.  Starting initially as a campus charrette that involved participants from the Board of Trustees, the President, Provost, and chief financial officer, facilities staff and faculty, we worked with a select group of professionals to establish a multi-year vision for development of building additions, renovations and significant form-giving exterior landscaped space planning. 
 

BDMD Architects and Landscape Architects' successful presentation to the same group has led us to develop comprehensive campus design standards adopted by the Board in June 2008, refined conceptual design and provided an opinion of capital needs of several campus spaces including a Central Campus Zone with a heritage quad, a new entry commons, a woodlands commons, and sensitive environmental areas. 
 

One outcome of planning that has resulted in the first built work after 12 months is the design and construction of a campus stream that accepts and filters stormwater on campus.  Current design work continues on the central campus zone that will reestablish how students, faculty, staff, visitors and donors approach and enter all academic buildings of the core campus area.  The focus of the campus design is to use the latest thoughts about green infrastructure to create engaging, interactive and sustainable spaces for Taylor University.
