Comparing Indianapolis’ Extreme Precipitation Patterns with Historic Averages

Last summer, I wrote about the extreme weather patterns in Indianapolis. The historic heatwave and drought  of 2012 has had a lasting impact on the region. June 2012 recorded only 0.09 inches of rainfall, which shattered the previous record of 0.36 inches set in 1988. The summer of 2012 marked the second year in a row in which a considerable lack of precipitation affected central Indiana.

Will the drought pattern repeat itself in 2013? Some forecasters are concerned about another drought in 2013, but so far this spring it has been extremely high precipitation that has wreaked havoc on central Indiana and threatens agricultural yield.
