One of my responsibilities with the Indiana Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC-IN) is to maintain a Google Maps database of all LEED certified projects in Indiana. Currently, the database is restricted to “commercial” LEED projects – i.e. project certified under any version of LEED except for LEED for Homes.
I updated the Google Maps database this weekend and made the following observations (keep in mind that all of these figures exclude LEED for Homes projects):
- There are currently 260 projects registered in Indiana. Of which, 74 (or 28.5%) are certified.
- Currently, there are only two LEED Platinum projects in the Hoosier State: The Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center of Goshen College (Albion, IN) and the Sweetwater Headquarters in Fort Wayne.
- Franklin Street Properties’ 3815 & 3925 River Crossing Parkway remains the only project in the state certified under LEED for Existing Buildings (EB O&M Silver).
- Earlier this month, the New Clark Middle School in Vincennes became the state’s first project certified under LEED for Schools (v2.0 Silver).
