University of Arkansas Bev Lewis Center for Women’s AthleticsFayetteville, Arkansas
The Bev Lewis Center for Women’s Athletics provides practice facilities for the University’s women’s gymnastics program as well as weight training facilities used by ten other Lady Razorbacks teams. The building has two levels that were created due to the site, which has a 30-foot change in elevation. Transparency is incorporated between these levels and the exterior, as well as between interior spaces, showcasing the dynamic athletic functions contained within. The building’s design engages primary views from all directions, including from above, its sculpted roof responding to the site’s dramatic topography.
The building is 41,000 square feet, including a gymnastics practice area of 14,500 square feet, weight training room at 7,200 square feet, administrative offices for the Women’s Athletics Department, locker/shower rooms, a team lounge and other support areas.
