Beth El TempleIndianapolis, Indiana
Beth-El Temple is an abandoned historic Jewish synagogue located in the Mapleton-Fall Creek neighborhood on the near north side of Indianapolis. A group of stakeholders consisting of members of the Jewish community, neighborhood advocates, and historic preservationists have come together since 2011 to begin a dialogue about its future. In 2012, Mapleton – Fall Creek Development Corporation (MFCDC) hired Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf to conduct a feasibility study to assess the current condition of the building and make recommendations for its renovation. The condition assessment consisted of taking measurements of the building, noting problem areas, and photographing relevant maintenance and preservation issues. At the conclusion of the condition assessment finished, Browning Day produced recommendations for treatment which included a written narrative, cost estimates, and annotated drawings.
