Dayton History MuseumDayton, Ohio

The primary function of the master planning process for the Dayton History Museum was to develop a plan that provides a new and creative solution to educational interpretive spaces at this museum and historical park on the banks of the Great Miami River. In its implementation, the plan, by its very nature, draws people into alluring immersive educational experiences that result in the engaging understanding of the compelling history of Dayton and the Miami Valley. The entire process of the design was focused on facilitating this foundational intent. The plan took a phased approach focusing on site/entry experience, arrival sequence/parking, and creating a hub of activity by expanding special events spaces and creating an immersion through interpretive spaces. Each of these concepts was presented in a way that embraces and utilizes the concept of nature.
