DePauw Emison Student Welcome CenterGreencastle, Indiana

This project consisted of the renovation of an existing art gallery space to become a Student Welcome Center. The design team maintained the majority of the art gallery as display and gathering space, in this first phase of creating a new “front door” for the university. This facility hosts prospective students/families on their first campus visits. Four new offices and interview rooms were added to the gallery space to serve as the admissions and financial aid hub of campus. We installed vision windows to the gallery space, and replaced an interior vestibule with two exterior vestibules.

Improvements to the exterior of the building included the removal of an existing limestone terrace, and installation of a new granite and limestone grand staircase and accessible ramp with ornamental railing, in addition to exterior lighting.

Second floor admissions and financial aid staff offices were installed in the second phase of the project, completed in 2012
