Speedway Residential Master PlanSpeedway, Indiana

At the request of the Speedway Redevelopment Commission and a local developer, Browning Day created a new vision for Main Street in downtown Speedway, centered on four main components. Browning Day’s first task was to conduct an inventory and evaluation of all the existing buildings which led to recommendations regarding their historic value and the potential for new development. Using three-dimensional rendering software, a new architectural vision was cast for each block based on the evaluation report. This exercise illustrated the relationships between the existing buildings to remain and the new buildings, in addition to creating a series of character sketches. The project also involved the development of an architectural design vocabulary intended to create a standard palette to guide all new development.
