Wabash Landing DevelopmentWest Lafayette, Indiana

The Wabash Landing mixed-use development transformed a significant portion of a blighted 80-acre site along the Wabash River into a new destination place. Once a landfill and later an abandoned department store, the site was converted into a town center that renewed the area creating business opportunities and enhancing the community. The site embraces public spaces, parkland, commercial property, residential units, road improvements and parking. Built on seven acres, the Wabash Landing development’s design intent was to create a new urban setting for the city of West Lafayette to call downtown, using turn-of-the-century, Main Street-style architecture as its inspiration.

The project connects West Lafayette and Lafayette via a pedestrian bridge over the Wabash River. It is now considered the premier retail, eating and lodging location in Tippecanoe County, and has been the core of the community’s revitalized downtown.
